my two middles
amelia pontes.
In my early 20’s, i discovered that my two middle names were quite lovely when stuck together like a meat and cheese roll-up without the bread; a full name with a story and a mixing of many cultures, ancestors, and perspectives.
i am returning to this name, not in search of that woman in her early 20’s seeking a place and a purpose, but to examine what life is like in 2020 in the middle of a global racist and medical pandemic.
i am returning to this name to ask if my wonderings and investment in love and relationships as the pathway to liberation still hold up as the world we know falls away. i am here to hold this sacred space to ask big questions, to meditate on the fractal and to swim into all of the cracks.
in this space, i will be like water. seeking balance by filling in all spaces. if you’re reading this, i invite you to witness this space through the lens of my and your full humanity.
full of mistakes. full of Truth. full of incomplete thoughts that may need a push from the outsider. If you feel called to comment, do so, with love, courageous curiosity, and compassion.
